Police Warn Car Insurance Customers to Guard Against Thieves
Car insurance customers in Essex have been urged not to give opportunistic thieves the chance to break into their automobiles. Police in the area have therefore issued advice on how drivers could best avoid becoming a victim of vehicle crime. They suggested that motorists ensure they only park in safe and well-lit areas to ensure they do not attract unwanted attention from would-be thieves.

Do you have insurance on your vehicle? If not… why?
The reason that I ask this question is that over the years working in delinquent car loans, it always amazes me how many customers that I spoke with that let their insurance lapse! When they are contacted by the bank, alot of times they just state that they do not feel they HAVE to have it! People.. if you buy a car, and you make payments on your car, you MUST have insurance or you WILL have your car repossesed! Driving is not a right, its a privlage!!
Comments welcomeed!
Unfortunately if you are dealing with people who have delinquent car loans I would guess that the majority are not the most responsible people in the world. However, that said I would guess that if automobile insurance were not mandatory either directly by the state or because the car is financed at least 50% of the people now insured would opt to drop the insurance. And yet these same people when they are hit by an uninsured driver are the first ones that are truly wailing about the other driver being irresponsible. Many of them fail to realize that they can lose their homes, their life savings and even have their wages garnished for the rest of their life if the claim is big enough.
I once had a former client come in and ask me what he could do because he had let his insurance lapse several months before and he was just hit by someone who was uninsured who totalled his vehicle. He got upset with me when I told him absolutely nothing! Mind you he could have gone to small claims court but if the judge find out he was also uninsured he would have probably thrown the whole case out.
Also by the way, you would be very surprised at how many businesses are uninsured. Many do not have general liability, property and even workers compensation insurance. They are gambling their entire investment, livelihood and (unbeknownst to the employees) the livelihood of their employees!
Unfortunately your post is probably preaching to the choir since most of the people who answer these questions are insurance agents, claims adjustors, etc. We are normally not only very responsible about our own insurance but even a tad bit paranoid since we see so many claims and some other very strange things. I do have automobile, homeowners, umbrella, life, disability and even long term care insurance in addition to an annuity. I learned early on that a good insurance agent should believe in his/her product.
