Car Insurance Video
Monday, August 30th, 2010car insurance video
recently was wrongly ticketed-cop went back to his car to “watch the video”; can they do that?
i was ticketed for running a red light at 11pm on a Thursday, which was absurd. Pulled over 1 to 2 lights past the “guilty” one, about 2/3 mile down the street. Cop failed to ask for my insurance before writing my ticket, then told me after he came back with the pink slip he “rewatched the video” and that I definitely committed an offense. I was under the impression that you cannot watch prerecorded video immediately after it happened, but rather when you get to the station and download it. He also emphasized for me to “just mail it in, you don’t have to appear anywhere” because I’m guessing it was a bs ticket and since im a young girl that I don’t know any better.
If I understand your question correctly, you DID NOT run a red light. If that is the case, go to court and fight the ticket. The video should vindicate you.
It cracks me up that the cops and cop lovers are telling you what a big “favor” he was doing you by telling you to just pay the fine. What a laugh!
My favorite though, is the advice that “Cops aren’t out their to lie and write tickets for things that don’t happen.” In actuality, police will tell whatever lie they have to in order to justify their ticket or arrest.
In my job, I deal with a lot of police, and read many police reports. The overwhelming majority of them contain exaggerations, lies, and misleading information.
If you didn’t run the light, you need to fight it.
